McCall Idaho Mountain Biking - Loon Lake
On Sunday, Christian, Fred, and I ventured about 30 miles from McCall, Idaho to ride a mostly single track trail to Loon Lake. We dropped a car off at Ruby Meadows and then proceeded to Chinook Campground (toward Warren). The trail offered up a little bit of everything, and was by far one of the best trails available in the area for the MTB enthusiast. Instead of riding the Chinook loop, we came out at Ruby Meadows, where we had left one of the cars. The ride was about 16 miles.
Upon arriving at Loon Lake, our major objective was to travel, mostly by foot, around a good portion of the lake and locate a B-23 Dragon bomber that had crash landed 50 years ago. The most amazing part of this wreckage was that all 8 crew members survived.

Great photos! That has always been one of my favorite rides. There are also some great hotsprings along the trail.
I’ll have to go back sometime and enjoy those host springs I keep hearing about.
Those photos are great! I want to check that out. I have hiked in the area but not at Loon Lake. Ill go the first chance I get.
