Desk Bliss

Desk

Working from home has many advantages. One worthy of a blog mention is my new workspace setup. I purchased my desk from a locally owned company called AD-AS (which I highly recommend if you are in the market for a custom desk). The desk I chose boasts motorized height adjustment, which allows me to stand or sit. It’s simply blissful! Not having to remain seated for 7 to 8 hours a day is the best decision I have made for my health in a long time. Additionally, I purchased a Herman Miller Mirra chair. And if you’ve ever used one, you know that this chair is the bomb! To round off my setup, I purchased an LCD dual arm system that holds my LCD on one arm and notebook computer on the other. Add my ergonomic keyboard and Logitech laser mouse and you have nothing short of computing utopia.

    If I had that setup at home (especially with the gym) I probably wouldn’t have taken a job downtown. I also appreciate the lucha libre dude… and the right handed mouse on the left side of the desk.

    That looks like a pretty sweet setup. :) I, too, have been making office enhancements which I’ll have to post photos of when all is said and done.

    @Nathan Smith – :-)

    @Jason Beaird – Nice catch on the mouse, the right hand pretty much stop working on me. So, I switch hands but not hardware.

    @Snook – Thanks, and yes we’d all like to see where the magic happens.

    @Nate Klaiber – :-)

    My right hand (left traps) were trying to die when I happened upon a fellow graphic artist who swore the track ball would extend my computing life. He lied, the track ball may have helped a tad but not enough to keep one working into the wee hours. This fellow did have some good advice however regarding switching the mouse to ones opposite side and force ones self to learn mousing skills left (or right) handed. That worked.

    While good I still had not achieved enlightenment. That came in the form of the pen tablet. Today I mouse with my right hand and pen with my left. My traps have found a balance.

    That’s a very nice set up you got there. It definitely is better than my 20 year old steel desk.

    Cody that is an awesome setup. Congrats on the new chair those cost a pretty penny but I know that they are worth it. Guess I need to get a work from home position first!

    Looking swanky, but I have a real issue with those horrible ergonmic keyboards! Everyone to their own, of course ;)

    What monitor are you using there Cody? I recently bought a Samsung 226BW 22” for £240 (although I’m sure you will get it much cheaper in the US) and it’s possibly the best computer-related purchase I’ve ever made.

    Dell, wide-screen, but just a 19inch. Nothing fancy like a 22inch.
