A New Job, ThickBox, and Turning 30
Some of you already know this, but I have decided to leave Albertsons. Last week I was given the opportunity to interview for a position at Micron. I was offered the position and accepted it. In the face of uncertainty I was presented with a great opportunity and took it. I feel a certain degree of accomplishment in attaining this new position and believe the unforeseeable future does not look as bleak as it once did. 8:28
ThickBox has received more attention than I had initially expected. So much so that I am a little overwhelmed with the notoriety and somewhat dumbfounded by all the individuals using it. Truthfully I developed the solution as a proof of concept as well as my own personal endeavor to showcase the jQuery library. With that said, I think I might owe some people an apology. Thickbox is not software. It has no support or documentation. It’s the start of a great script and should be used as a launching point. If you see the potential of what is possible, then the script was likely created for you. If, however, you only see the limitations of the solution then, honestly, the script is likely not for you. With that said, I am sorry that I have not responded to a large portion of the comments received on the original post. I’m even more sorry that as of today I do not plan on responding to a majority of the emails and comments that I received requesting support. ThickBox will eventually morph into another version. If at that point it can stand alone as useful to you, then use it. However, as of today and moving forward please do not expect a great deal of support for a script that was really never meant to be a complete solution. Remember, this stuff is free. If it so happens to come wrapped with great documentation and support then even better, but seriously don’t assume it should.
Turning 30! What can I say; I’m no longer in my twenties. And honestly, I’m not excited about the legalities included with getting older. While I am sure a great deal of getting old is a state of mind, there is no doubt that physiological changes do occur. While these changes are of course mentally manageable, the reality is change is unavoidable. I guess on the bight side, with age comes wisdom.
I know, 30 is far from old. I’ll quit my whining now. It’s just very difficult for me not to point out the obvious. I’m thirty, can anyone tell me what’s so great about being 30? 16:31

Grey hair at 30??
@Matt – Yup, came down with a case of grey hairs in my twenties. It would seem however it’s funnier to point it out now that I am thirty.
Sweet action on the Romans 8:28, you clever guy, you (likewise, the Proverbs reference).
And I’m excited for your new job at Micron. I’m sure you will do great things there, as you have every place you’ve worked. Let me know if a spot opens up there – I’d love to work with you again.
And happy birthday, bro – you’re the youngest 30 year old I know.
Well, I know I’ve already told you this in person, but I figured I would document it here for posterity: It was great working with you for the short time I was able to. Viva la regular expressions!
I agree with what you say about thickbox. You’ve brought a little baby into the world, and now it’s up to everyone else to hack it to bits.
Sounds morbid, I know, but hey… This is the world of software engineering!! :D
Congrats on the 30th birthday.
@Nate L – Thanks yo.
@Nate S – Ditto
@Dan – Yup, you said it.
Cody – congrats on 30.
Well, umm . . ., “they” say that sex gets better in the 30’s. So, it can’t be too bad.
may all the very best will come to you.
happy 30, cody :)
@Deny – Why thank you.
I can honestly say that my 30’s have been way more rewarding than my 20’s ever were (were or where? – wow, living in foreign parts has really decimated my already limited English language skills) and I’m sure it’ll be the same for you.
Don’t stress, roll with the flow, you have a new job and a new addition to the family – life’s good!
@frequency decoder – Good point, life is good. Thanks.
Romans 8:28 and Proverbs 16:31… you messed with my head a bit, I thought I was losing it seeing letters bolded like that. That was fun, though, good insertion.
